The IVF success factors no one talks about
Lab quality, embryologist skill, protocol customization — the variables that move outcomes more than any supplement.
- 01
Lab quality may be the single most underrated variable in IVF outcomes.
- 02
Customized stimulation protocols outperform standardized ones.
- 03
Embryologist experience matters as much as physician experience.
- 04
No supplement matches the impact of these structural factors.
When patients ask me what really moves the needle on IVF success, I always start with the same answer: it's not what's on Instagram. It's the lab.
An embryology lab is a microenvironment. Air quality, humidity, temperature stability, the brand of culture media, how often the embryos are disturbed — all of it matters. Two clinics can run identical protocols and have very different outcomes because of the lab.
The second factor is protocol customization. Your stimulation protocol should be designed for your biology, not pulled off a shelf. We adjust based on AMH, antral follicle count, prior response, BMI, age — every variable matters.
